On 4 December, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius participated in the Meeting of NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs in Brussels. The Foreign Ministers raised the issue of Russia's aggressive actions against Ukrainian naval vessels in the Kerch Strait.
On 31 October in Vilnius, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius, the Minister of National Defense Raimundas Karoblis met with the U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Wess Mitchell and discussed issues of strengthening regional security, bilateral cooperation, and support for Eastern partners.
On 18 October in Vilnius, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius received Permanent Representatives to NATO of countries contributing to the enhanced forward presence battalion in Lithuania. They discussed Lithuania's efforts to strengthen its own security and the implementation of the Alliance‘s initiatives in the field of collective defense and deterrence that had been agreed upon.
The Embassy of Lithuania to Poland will continue its diplomatic partnership with the Casimir Pulaski Foundation for the Warsaw Security Forum to take place on 24 - 25 October 2018.
On 28 September, Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevičius took part in a discussion hosted by the US Department of State on advancing responsible state behaviour in cyberspace. The discussion was moderated by Deputy Secretary of State, John Sullivan.
On 24 September, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius took part in the leading annual transatlantic security conference in Washington, D.C. - the CEPA Forum - and discussed cooperation between the countries of Europe and North America in response to common security challenges.
On 11-12 July in Brussels, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius participated in the NATO summit as part of a delegation led by the President Dalia Grybauskaitė. The meeting charted NATO's path in a changing world for the years ahead. The Alliance is adapting to be a more agile, responsive and innovative organisation, which defends itself against any threat.
On 19 June, Linas Linkevičius, Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with foreign ministers of the Nordic, Baltic and Visegrad countries in Stockholm (Sweden).
On 16 May in Washington,D.C., the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius, together with the Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkēvičs and Estonian Foreign Minister Sven Mikser, met with the U.S. President's National Security Adviser John Bolton.
The Meeting of NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs took place on 27 April in Brussels. It focused on Russia’s aggressive military activity, hybrid attacks against NATO’s member countries and its partners. In the meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius noted that during the forthcoming NATO summit the countries should in solidarity send the message that the Alliance was determined to defend its member countries and values.
Prior to the spring Meeting of NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius met with the Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR), General Curtis M. Scaparrotti on 26 April. The interlocutors agreed that the deployment of battlegroups to Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Poland, which had been agreed upon at the NATO summit in Warsaw, was an excellent example of successful implementation of rapid and solidarity-based solutions.
On 6 March, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius opened the American-Lithuanian conference on air defence in the Baltic region in Washington, D.C. The publication ‘Toward Effective Air Defence in Northern Europe’ by Philip Breedlove, NATO's former Supreme Allied Commander Europe, was presented. One of the most important issues of our region’s capacities – the development of a regional air defence system – was discussed at the conference.
On 5 February in Vilnius, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius and the Deputy Secretary General of NATO Rose Gottemoeller discussed preparations for the upcoming meeting of heads of state and government of NATO member countries. Gottemoeller is visiting Lithuania on the occasion of the first anniversary of the deployment of the NATO enhanced forward presence battalion in Lithuania.
An informal Snow Meeting brought together Lithuanian and foreign security policy experts on 11-12 January in Trakai district. The meeting discussed the main challenges facing the transatlantic community and ways to respond to them.
